Rajesh (Raj) Babu - Partner
Prior to BFG, Raj served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Birch Benders, the #1 natural pancake & waffle mix brand and BFG portfolio company. Raj scaled the business to include four product lines and distribution in over 10,000 stores, culminating in an acquisition by Sovos Brands. He most recently served as President of Cappello’s, a manufacturer of grain-free pizza, pasta, and cookie dough.
Before becoming an operator, Raj spent several years at BCG, Bain, and Morgan Stanley, eventually following his interest in natural food and healthy living to WhiteWave Foods, where he held a number of strategic leadership roles. There, he helped to build the company’s corporate strategy, acquire businesses, and integrate businesses post-acquisition, including Whitewave’s own acquisition by Danone in 2016.
Originally a Chicago native, Raj earned both his B.S. and his MBA at Northwestern University. He currently lives in Denver, CO with his wife, Laura, and their two small children. He also serves on the Board of Alumni at Northwestern University, the Board of the Nathan Yip Foundation, and the Board of Naturally Boulder.
