BFG is a venture capital firm that seeks partnerships with early stage food and beverage consumer product companies. We work alongside exceptional entrepreneurs to ensure the business is able to deliver sustainable growth and outperform its competitors. In addition to providing our portfolio companies with capital, BFG provides teams with the advice most needed to make critical decisions and maximize opportunities. This advice spans operational strategy, tactical marketing, channel development, organizational design and capital planning.

Founder & Managing Partner
Founder and Managing Partner of Boulder Food Group, Tom previously co-founded EVOL Foods and was the COO of Bear Naked Granola. Under Tom’s management, both businesses were successfully sold to public companies.
In addition to his role at BFG, Tom proudly serves on the board of directors of three non-profit organizations including Chef Ann Foundation, Just Label It and Growe Foundation. Chef Ann Foundation and Just Label It are focused at the national level on critical food related issues. The Growe Foundation works with Boulder Valley elementary schools to provide learning opportunities in school gardens. Tom is also the co-founder of the 929 Non-Profit Summer Series which takes place in Boulder, CO each summer. The event series benefits at least five non-profits each year and raises funds on their behalf.
Tom was born and raised in Santa Fe, NM. He attended Santa Fe Preparatory School and then Vanderbilt University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors and dual degrees in Economics and Spanish. Tom lives in Boulder, CO with his wife and family.

Dayton previously co-founded Function, a venture-backed health and wellness beverage company, which Dayton built from idea-conception to $20 million in retail sales until its acquisition by Sunsweet Growers, Inc. Prior to Function, Dayton was an executive in the strategy group at The Walt Disney Company where he worked for over seven years focusing on mergers & acquisitions and operating strategy. Dayton began his career as an analyst in investment banking and spent time as a management consultant for Bain & Co. Dayton serves on the Board of Directors for the Harvard Business School Alumni Association of SoCal and also serves on the Leadership Council of the Fulfillment Fund, an LA non-profit focused on underprivileged youth and education. Dayton was born and raised in Baltimore, MD where he attended McDonogh School. Dayton received his BA from Vanderbilt University and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
Previously Ben worked at The Yucaipa Companies, a private equity and venture capital firm founded by Ron Burkle focused on middle market companies and growth capital. In addition, Ben spent five years working in New York for the hedge funds Hutchin Hill Capital and Oak Hill Advisors. He began his career in investment banking at UBS focusing on mergers & acquisitions. Ben was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and attended Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT. Ben received his BA from Duke University and lives in Boulder, CO where he is also a competitive triathlete.
Previously Tyler was employee number three at MicroBiome Therapeutics, a natural supplement startup in Boulder, CO focused on improving health status by interacting with the human microbiome. Tyler graduated magna cum laude from Occidental College in Los Angeles and lives in Boulder, CO. Tyler currently holds a Board seat for BFG Portfolio Company Fat Sanx, and serves as Board Observer to Cartograph and CAULIPOWER.

Prior to joining BFG, Elizabeth worked in management consulting at The Parthenon Group and Parthenon-EY. In Parthenon’s Boston office, Elizabeth focused on performing commercial due diligence for private equity firms and advised corporate clients in the consumer, education and technology sectors. Elizabeth was born and raised in the Boston area. She attended Deerfield Academy and Yale University where she received her BA in Eastern European Politics. Outside of the office, Elizabeth is an avid cook, amateur runner and lifelong skier.
Before joining Boulder Food Group, Meg worked in marketing and communications for Leaf Global Fintech in Denver. Much of her previous experience has been in sustainable food systems and agriculture. Raised in Charlottesville, VA, Meg graduated magna cum laude from Sewanee: The University of the South with a degree in environmental policy and business. She likes to spend her time outside of the office hiking, trail running, and visiting local farmers markets.

Michelle Brooks is the Treasurer of Chobani. Prior to her current role, Michelle was a Managing Director of Arlon, a middle-market private equity food and agriculture investment firm with a global network that supports investments across the entire food supply chain in the Americas. At Arlon, she oversaw the investment process and the management and support of Arlon’s portfolio companies. In this capacity, she served on the boards of Kettle Cuisine, Wholesome Sweeteners and Door to Door Organics, and she continues to chair the board of Idaho Pacific Holdings. Michelle previously worked for Weston Presidio, a middle market private equity firm that raised approximately $3.3 billion across five funds, for eleven years, where she was responsible for leading due diligence and investment execution in a variety of sectors. Michelle also serves as a Director of Vitamin Angels, a not-for-profit organization that provides nutritional supplements to over 60 million women and children around the world. Michelle was born and raised in Pensacola, FL. Michelle received her BA with honors from Harvard University and her MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.

Ben is a Managing Principal of Arlon, a middle-market private equity food and agriculture investment firm with a global network that supports investments across the entire food supply chain in the Americas. At Arlon, he oversees the investment process and the management and support of the Arlon’s portfolio companies. Ben previously co-founded The Grow Network, which was sold to the McGraw-Hill Companies in 2004. Prior to The Grow Network, Ben was a Strategic and Financial Analyst for Continental Grain Company. In 2005, he was a National Finalist for the White House Fellowship. Ben serves on the Boards of K-Mac Holdings Corp., The Chia Company, Alico Incorporated, Grandpoint Capital, Inc. and Rose Displays Ltd. and is a Member of the Alumni Council of Collegiate School in New York City. Ben was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Ben received his BA, cum laude, from Princeton University.

Birch Benders is a gourmet pancake and waffle mix company made by just adding water. All products are non-GMO, certified Kosher and certified organic. Birch Benders is based in Denver, Colorado.
Bobo’s creates oat bars from wholesome ingredients. Started in 2003, by a daughter and mother, Bobo’s has continued to bake their bars by hand and to perfection.
